PSU drives highways contractor into the Cloud

Reseller PSU Technology Group (PSU) has been awarded a new IT contract by highways service contractor, Ringway Jacobs.

The deal, worth in excess of £370,000, will see PSU provide a pure cloud computing managed services solution to Ringway Jacobs, as the highways contractor embarks upon a new multi-million pound 5 year maintenance partnership with Cheshire East Council.

Utilising software from Citrix and VM-Ware running on a virtualised V-platform server, and hosted in an ultra-modern data centre, the cloud solution distributes Microsoft and bespoke CRM and finance applications to multiple users across several office locations.

As part of their preparation work, PSU designed and built a bespoke test environment for Ringway Jacobs' applications and data, creating a resilient live platform which was trialled by key personnel over several months. PSU was able to demonstrate that the cloud computing technology was sufficiently robust and, delighted with the results, Ringway Jacobs agreed to progress with PSU's solution.

As Michael Lounton, PSU's Managing Director explained, PSU adopted a Citrix and V-Platform cloud computing model a number of years ago for its own business applications and has never looked back.

He said; "We fully understand and appreciate the benefit of an agile and efficient IT infrastructure delivered from one centrally managed location, which is why we believe in offering cloud services to our customers. We are all thrilled that Ringway Jacobs has chosen PSU as their cloud computing and managed service provider and look forward to a long and successful relationship."
