Rocom’s Wetherby Head Office was the setting for a glamorous red carpet style fundraising event on Friday 26th October in aid of Breast Cancer Research Wear it Pink Day. The day’s non-stop fundraising raised a spectacular £2,000 from a combined mix of staff participation and a generous 5% donation from Rocom for every order placed on the day.
Everyone was tasked to turn up in his or her most glamorous red carpet outfit and get involved in the Pink Promise Auction. Promises included random activities such as a ride on the back of a 1000cc sports motorbike, Russian language lessons and a night out with one of the lovely ladies in Rocom’s Retail Team!
The brave men in Tech Support and Returns were sponsored for getting various body parts waxed, while a newlywed from Sales won the best dressed prize for dressing in his wife’s most glamorous outfit. Other fundraising activities included selling pink pudding at lunchtime and throwing a raffle with great prizes sponsored by Plantronics, Polycom, Panasonic, Brother, Doro and Jabra.
The event was orchestrated superbly by Amanda Steel, Sales Manager who was determined to make the day GLAMAROUS with a capital G. Amanda’s motivation came from bravely beating breast cancer earlier this year. Amanda said:
“It’s unbelievable how much money we’ve raised! I can’t thank everyone enough for getting into the spirit of things and generating so much money. It was such a fun day with everyone getting involved from customers to directors. There were so many highlights but for me the fact that those who tirelessly looked after me and my family while I was ill, will benefit from the day, is best of all – plus I’m always after an excuse to raid the dressing up box!”
