The Samsung ChatON service, will be available worldwide from today and can be downloaded for free through Samsung Apps or Android MarketTM for use on a variety of mobile devices, including the Samsung GALAXY SII. ChatON will also be preloaded on to bada smartphones and selective feature phones from Samsung starting in October, and will be available for other platforms by the end of 2011.

Simon Stanford, Head of Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “We’re always looking at ways to bring innovative devices and services to consumers and I’m delighted to announce Samsung’s ChatON platform in the UK. Samsung ChatON brings a communication service that encompasses multimedia, social media and instant messaging capabilities that will give our consumers yet another way to communicate and interact with our devices.”

Using ChatON’s unique functionality users can create their own animated message by scribbling text while adding audio and choosing a background picture. Each conversation window features a ‘Trunk’ documenting all multimedia items sent and received through the conversation so users can pick up where they left off.

ChatON’s functionality across multiple platforms lets everyone join in, with content in multiple formats. Features such as Group Chat, and Interaction Rank allow further control of social networks and contacts.
