Shorten Picks up Second Avaya Reseller Contract

Reseller G3 has announced the appointment of Lee Shorten as strategic advisor to their. Shorten takes on a consultative role having completed three years as Managing Director and Sales Leader for Avaya’s operations in the UK & Ireland.

Earlier this week reseller Excell made a similar announcement regarding working with Shorten.

Shorten is a Managing Partner at Positive Momentum Ltd., a UK based consultancy advising on business strategy and people development for some of the world’s largest organisations. In addition, Shorten brings with him extensive experience of go-to-market strategy, systems integration and international roll-out of technology solutions, plus a strong reputation for realising the aspirations of companies with high growth potential.

Acting as a ‘business catalyst’, Shorten will advise on developing G3’s service delivery strategy to capitalise on changing market conditions. This follows G3’s recent launch of G3://4D, a proactive managed service for converged networks, and supports G3’s activities within the Aura Alliance, the global partnership of top Avaya Partners.

Tony Parish, G3 Managing Director, underlines the importance of Shorten’s role at G3, “Lee commands enormous respect within Avaya for his achievements over recent years and his knowledge of the industry will be invaluable in guiding the business forward. With the increasing complexity of converged networks and unified communications, it is arguable that service delivery is now even more critical to the client’s business operations and performance than the technology itself. Consequently, we are refocusing on our four key services - system design, deployment, integration, support - and Lee’s experience will be instrumental in helping us make this strategic shift.”

Contrary to the risks posed by a flat economy, Shorten sees important opportunities for G3 and its customers in 2012, “Unified communications present vast business benefit in terms of cost reduction and streamlined working processes – issues that are the talking point in virtually every board room today. Equally, it is implementation and support services that mitigate investment risk and govern total cost of ownership in the long term. I look forward to helping the G3 team connect their vast experience in these areas with the real business issues faced by customers today.”

Parish views G3’s membership of the Aura Alliance as central to Shorten’s task:

“A founding member of the Aura Alliance, G3 Telecommunications is one of the fifty Avaya Partners employing more than 2,000 Avaya Certified Technicians in ninety countries. The Aura Alliance is an unprecedented resource for customers with global offices, the alliance takes the pain out of international deployments by working to consistent SLAs and skills across all countries, all managed from a single point of contact. Avaya and the Alliance are working actively together on a daily basis, so Lee’s Avaya background will be valuable in building the Alliance into our global strategy.”
