The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s most high profile award for business. Siemens Communications’ HiPath personal communications portal was developed as an enhancement to the Managed Telephony Service (Mts) contract delivered through OGCbuying.solutions in partnership with Global Crossing. It enables users within HM Government to communicate consistently and seamlessly using all forms of telephony including private networks, landline phones, mobile phones, the internet and new emerging wireless services.
This means that users can control their availability to take calls or have calls re-routed to the most convenient device, without the user or caller being aware of any difference in operation or functionality. The result is that flexible working practices can easily be deployed, meaning that travelling costs can be reduced, there is a reduced cost of infrastructure (including office space) and non-core functions can be more easily deployed out of high cost conurbations.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are presented every year to UK businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement in one of three categories; international trade, sustainable development and innovation. The awards are given on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions. Siemens Communications is entitled to the award until 2011.
