The Xperia X10 Mini was competing against a range of different handsets released throughout the year and it was chosen by a jury consisting of 50 special interest magazines from across Europe. The mini android is highly rated in comparison to competitors’ handsets on a number of areas, especially its compactness.
The X10 Mini was chosen as the winner for a number of reasons, notably due to its small size and stylish design, whilst also “[delivering] excellent performance with a comprehensive range of features such as GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and a 5 megapixel camera with flash.” The jury was impressed with how Sony Ericsson has been able to create such a compact handset whilst still maintaining the power of a larger phone, especially at a time when smartphones are perceived to be bigger in size - the X10 Mini, the smallest android smartphone in the world, can be used easily in one hand.
The judging panel also liked how the size of the Xperia X10 Mini made the phone accessible to so many people and would be particularly appealing to women who preferred a small and light handset. The official EISA jury claimed the size and weight of the handset made “…it perfect for introducing the fairer sex to smartphone technology.”
