South West Comms Group Scoops Toshiba Award

South West Communications Group has been named as Toshiba’s Technical Excellence Award recipient for the second year in a row.

The winners of the annual awards have been announced by Toshiba BCD (Business Communications Division) with South West Communications Group coming out top with a score calculated on a combination of revenue spend, the number of technical support calls that were taken but not escalated, and the sophistication of the installations undertaken.

South West Communications Group, based on the Sowton Industrial Estate in Exeter, has been a Toshiba Elite partner for 21 years and has installed its business telephone systems into more than 4,000 businesses across the UK. Once the equipment has been installed, South West Communications Group’s highly skilled team of engineers takes responsibility for its upkeep; including moves, additions and changes as well as delivering software upgrades and providing ongoing support.

Tim Webb, general manager of Toshiba BCD, said: “South West Communications Group has displayed considerable expertise in the Toshiba business telephony product range, resulting in them winning the Technical Excellence award from Toshiba for the second year in a row.

“South West Communications Group has shown themselves to be fully adept at installing, maintaining, supporting and troubleshooting on Toshiba products from the entry level Strata CIX40 through to our top end Strata CIX670, as well as the full suite of applications that support the range. We are thrilled that their commitment to the Toshiba product range has resulted in this achievement.”

South West Communications Group’s group engineering director Brian Lodge said: “We are delighted to receive this honour from Toshiba BCD for the second year running. We worked hard to obtain the award last year, so it is doubly pleasing to see that we have attained these high standards yet again.

“South West Communications Group is proud to be a Toshiba elite partner and to enjoy the professional relationship that has built up between our two businesses during the last two decades.”

South West Communications Group was started 25 years ago by its chief executive and chairman Tony Rowe after he identified a niche in the market for business telephone systems. The company has evolved both in size and technological expertise, now employing more than 120 members of staff and providing cutting edge voice, data and Internet communications solutions.
