SpiriTel are committed to financially assisting HOPEHIV, a charity dedicated to supporting young people in sub-Saharan Africa whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS. SpiriTel’s fundraising goes directly to HOPEHIV’s new project, The Gateway School of Fashion in association with Karen Millen, to educate and train young people affected by HIV in South Africa.
The event was well attended by several industry companies, including event sponsors Mitel, Sytel and Research In Motion UK Limited (RIM). After an early start with breakfast and introduction by Alastair Mills (CEO of SpiriTel) Mark Glen (UK Director of HOPEHIV) guests were treated to a spectacular day of golf and a chance to win an Audi TT for a hole in one. Although no one drove home in the TT, guests were unanimous in saying that the day was a great success, and many stayed on for the evening dinner in the Ryder Cup clubhouse and the awarding of prizes. Dinner also gave a chance for them to find out more about the cause they were supporting, with Mark Glen showing a short film of England Rugby star Lewis Moody visiting the charity’s projects in Kenya and giving an overview of the charity’s vital work.

The day was a fantastic success (even if the golf was a little mixed) and the money raised will be a key resource in funding the second year of this pioneering programme for severely disadvantaged young people in South Africa. I would also like to thank everyone who came to the day for their generosity and for their interest in hearing about our work.”
