Tata Communications take first steps in UK Channel

Tata Communications, part of the huge India based Tata Group, has entered into an exclusive two-year deal with telecom reseller Glemnet as part of its UK channel strategy. Based on this agreement, its hosted IP PBX services will be packaged and distributed via Glemnet’s new distributor sub-brand, tipicall, which will be launched at the Convergence South 2010 in October.

With access to Tata Communications’ products and services, including hosted IP PBX, SIP trunks, voice minutes, contact centre solutions and broadband, the company says tipicall will provide a cost effective, quality service to the channel community. Added to that, all Tata Communications related products and services distributed via tipicall will be centrally hosted at Tata Communications’ data centres and connected to its global MPLS network.

“IP Telephony will ultimately replace traditional fixed telecom services for SMEs and is ideal for any multi-site company with a distributed workforce. Based on a pay-per-seat model, the fully featured IP PBX ensures a low CAPEX for the end customers,” said Neil Linter, CEO, Glemnet. “With Tata Communications as our IP PBX provider, we now have fully resilient, scalable, best-in-class solutions that complement the wider portfolio of products offered under the tipicall brand for resellers to ensure their customers’ can transition from fixed to IP with ease”.

Rhys Amarilli, Director of Managed Services at Tata Communications said, “As an exclusive partner in the UK for our IP PBX products, Glemnet via tipicall enables us to reach a new, diverse range of customers within the market. This approach is our first step within the UK in building and cultivating a channel community that will complement our direct sales channel.”
