Tech Data Delivers Virtual Desktop Through Parallels

Distributors
Tech Data has partnered with Parallels to offer UK and Ireland resellers Parallels Remote Application Server for the delivery of virtual desktops and Windows applications to any device – without expensive infrastructure.

The agreement brings added potential for partners to drive sales in the growing Workspace as a Service (WaaS) market which was valued at $7.47 billion in 2014 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.1 percent from 2015 to 2022. Demand for virtualised desktops and applications is growing fast and the Parallels Remote Application Server solution presents a great opportunity for resellers in a number of markets, according to Nick Stancliffe, Software Business Development Manager at Tech Data.

“Now there is a clear understanding of the benefits that VDI and broader remote application delivery bring in terms of convenience, flexibility, easy management, enhanced security, increased productivity and cost reduction. We see excellent potential for sales growth with Parallels Remote Application Server in the SMB market, the education sector and amongst MSPs. With the excellent set of features and great value that it offers, it is a compelling option for any organisation looking to get all the benefits of the virtualised desktop and applications with reduced complexity and cost. As such, it represents a very considerable opportunity for resellers to add value for customers and increase revenues on new and existing Windows Server and virtualisation deployments.”

Parallels Remote Application Server v15, which launched on Feb. 3, 2016, is its first major release since Parallels acquired the product line a year ago from 2X Software. Parallels redesigned and enhanced its solution with IT admin productivity and the end user experience in mind.

“This is a great opportunity for resellers to easily add significant value for their customers. Parallels Remote Application Server provides a short learning curve, fast implementation, easy migration from competing platforms, an integrated load-balancing solution, and the lowest licensing costs which enable IT organizations to re-deploy their valuable IT budgets to other projects and investments,” said Kathryn Sharp, Regional Sales Manager, Northern Europe for Parallels.

“We selected Tech Data to be the distributor in the UK and Ireland because we want to reach out to as much of the reseller community as we can, as quickly as we can. There is really excellent potential for resellers to grow their sales in the WaaS market and we want to make sure they can take advantage of that opportunity with RAS,” added Sharp.

Tech Data is planning to run a series of webinars and make educational resources available to help partners understand how to market and sell the Parallels Remote Application Server solution into the SMB, education and MSP sectors. It also plans to offer a deal registration scheme on the solution to provide protection for resellers that discover new opportunities.
