TeleWare Adds Microsoft Platform for Unified IP Communications

TeleWare’s flagship Intelligent Office software now has native support for Microsoft Exchange 2007, as well as Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007

The announcement is part of a strategy to tighten data and voice integration between TeleWare and Microsoft applications. This solution delivers the benefits of presence and IP telephony services in a practical way that streamlines implementation. This means a quicker and more cost effective deployment, which greatly improves upon the return on investment.

Microsoft has signalled their intent in the Unified Communications market with the recent releases of Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Office Communications Server. TeleWare, a Microsoft Gold partner, have developed a solution that enables customers using these Microsoft applications to integrate with their existing voice services providing presence input from legacy PBX, mobile and PSTN into the Microsoft client. TeleWare shares the Microsoft vision for delivering the benefits of Unified Communications - to provide organisations with a simple roadmap for integrating their communications environment with their Microsoft desktop in a mixed vendor environment.

The tighter integration provided by TeleWare allows a host of new features including enhanced personal number support and unified email, voice and fax mailbox within Microsoft Exchange.

“TeleWare’s telephony applications have been based on Microsoft technologies from their inception and TeleWare has always kept up to date with the latest Microsoft developments in order to bring the advantages of Microsoft at the desktop to its enterprise customers,” explained Steve Haworth CEO at TeleWare plc.

The TeleWare solution enhances the communications experience of the entire organisation providing the benefits of Unified Communications and presence awareness to personnel irrespective of what telephone system they are running, and ensuring that the presence information can cover all the users in the organisation whether on the legacy PBX or the new OCS solution. TeleWare’s focus is on enabling customers to move to the benefits of the Microsoft solution, while allowing people to work from wherever they choose with all the benefits of Unified Communications without having to migrate to a full IP architecture immediately.

Haworth believes this strategy is important for enterprise customers who are increasingly using Microsoft's enhanced communications tools but also require the telephony services that will deliver value from their voice communications. “Tighter integrations provides the ability to use TeleWare's full suite of applications - including personal numbering, personal assistant, and its IVR development and business process integration tools – concurrently, with the new Microsoft offerings,” Haworth adds.

Further developments are planned once additional Microsoft APIs enable and include integration of TeleWare’s intelligent Presence Manager clients within OCS, so both presence management systems can work seamlessly within the Microsoft client. Further integration features are scheduled for released in mid 2008.
