Telstra Launches Integrated Video Over MPLS Conferencing

Telstra Europe is targeting the high growth market for video conferencing and collaboration with the launch of an on-demand network solution.

The fixed fee, unlimited use embedded service provides Telstra’s UK, European and global business customers with instant access to an advanced suite of tools for running virtual meetings from the boardroom and desktop.

Simon Vye, CEO at Telstra Europe said, the Telstra Integrated Video solution enhanced business agility by enabling more flexible workplace collaboration.

“Face to face meetings are essential as the nuances of communication rely on body language and facial expressions,” said Vye. “Until recently, there was no alternative to another business trip to achieve the face-to-face result. Today, however people are using high definition video conferencing to obtain the same result as sitting at the same table, which also has the added benefit of reducing carbon emissions from less travel.”

Powered by technology from BCS Global, the service enables one-to-one, one-to-many or many-to-many face-to-face communication and integrates a range of collaboration applications for sharing and working on content such as presentations and spreadsheets. Telstra Integrated Video also supports high definition video sessions and offers a range of viewing formats; with full compatibility with most existing installations.

The fully managed IP-based service is available across Telstra’s global MPLS network, making it a simple and powerful solution to the complex management and connectivity requirements of large international businesses.

Vye said, “Our customers are increasingly looking to leverage their investments in IP networking to gain greater business advantage, and our integrated video conferencing and collaboration managed service is a great example of how we’re helping them achieve this. We take away the burden of managing an end-to-end business-grade conferencing system and deliver the compelling business benefits of real-time face-to-face communication. It’s a great value-added solution and is an important extension to our comprehensive IP services portfolio.”

“BCS Global is excited to provide Telstra customers with a high quality, easy-to-use and cost effective solution that integrates directly with the Telstra MPLS network,” said Allen Preece, CEO for BCS Global. “The service delivers on the new paradigm of IP managed video communication and collaborative service applications by making video communications an integral way that businesses communicate on a day-to-day basis.”
