Timico achieves PCI compliance certification

Unified Comms
Timico, the business internet, hosting and communications service provider has today been certified as compliant to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

The PCI DSS, developed by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council, helps facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security. Businesses and consumers alike want to know their credit card details are being handled and stored securely and the PCI standard is part of that reassurance.

The retail organisations, local government departments and other organisations that handle credit card payments and rely on the secure network services that Timico supplies are no exception.

Timico has provided Murco with a Private Wide Area Network to connect all of its retail sites to head office for seven years. The network gives Murco fully redundant breakout and managed access to the Internet, keeping all of its sites fully connected 24 hours a day. Timico integrates new retail sites as Murco expands, and also manages the company’s business telephone lines and mobiles, delivered with a bespoke system of billing.

In order to ensure that payment for Murco’s expanding fuel and non-fuel retail offering can always be taken via credit and debit card, Murco has added Timico 3G capability so that systems in all of Murco Petroleum’s fast growing network of service stations throughout England, Scotland and Wales, will now automatically switch to the failsafe wireless back-up if connectivity is lost during business hours.

Trefor Davies, CTO of Timico commented, “The advanced security features built in to Timico’s network helps our clients guarantee the safety and security of their customers’ sensitive data. Timico’s robust information security set-up plays a vital role in ensuring our clients meet their PCI compliance requirements now and in the future, avoiding the risks associated with lost revenue or industry fines and penalties.”
