Titan Telecom Launched as a Low-Cost Telco For Small Businesses

Newly-launched Titan Telecom Limited say they will provide small businesses with a cut-price telecom service at around a 48% (£238) overall saving on a typical customer spending £500 with BT on standard business rates.

The new service from Titan will offer customers a 30-day no-obligation trial period, a one year contract and a price guarantee - not to be beaten on a like-for-like basis - and the price will be fixed for the period of the contract.

"It's a back-to-basics business model to provide a high quality service at a much reduced price to the customer," said Tony Eagleton, Financial Director, Titan Telecom Ltd.

"We are engaging with third parties to sell Titan's services and have been hugely encouraged by the response from many such channel partners, who know the market well and who are ready to deliver significant success from day one."

Titan's aftersales communication processes, both with BT and with its customers, will be highly automated.

"All provisioning and subsequent communications with BT regarding customer services will be handled via WLR3, making Titan the first and the only telecom provider to operate solely on this state of the art system," said Tony Eagleton.

"Customer enquiries will also be automated to maximise cost-effectiveness and generate savings to pass back to the customer."

Titan will use BT's network, and telephone lines will be maintained by BT OpenReach, but will be provided at a lower cost than competitors'

offerings, including BT itself.

"We have a price guarantee on a like-for-like basis which is fixed for the period of the contract - but our call prices are considerably cheaper than BT's standard business rates," said Eagleton.

"We are also considerably reducing the price of international calls for our small business customers - with the top 20 international call destinations, which include much of Europe, Ireland, Canada, USA, Australia and Hong Kong, at 3p per minute, making our prices between 85% and 91% cheaper than BT," said Tony Eagleton.

"Where price is the deciding factor for small businesses purchasing fixed line telecom services, as it is likely to be in the current economic climate, Titan should be their provider of choice because we will explicitly seek to have the cheapest small business tariffs available in the UK."

The use of WLR3 is due to OFCOM's stipulation that by June 30, 2008, BT must provide equal market conditions for line switching for all CPs and BT Retail by using the same mechanisms to access the OpenReach network to ensure 'equivalence of input'.

Titan is a subsidiary of Universal Utilities which also owns telecommunications provider Unicom.
