Transport for Greater Manchester to save £300,000 a year with Easynet

Easynet Global Services has announced a new contract with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to provide a fully managed ADSL network that will help improve congestion and safety across the Greater Manchester area. The new network will help TfGM to unify its traffic management and roadside intelligent transport system infrastructure into one single platform. The agreement is worth £1.4 million over five years and is expected to reduce TfGM’s operational costs by £0.3 million per year.

Easynet will improve the efficiency of traffic signals, variable message signs, processes for monitoring road usage and journey times, by providing a resilient Internet Protocol network. The enhancements to the systems will see residents in the Greater Manchester area benefit from reduced congestion, which should help the local authority to lower pollution levels in and around the city.
