Trend Micro joins the Cloud Industry Forum

Cloud
Trend Micro is the latest Cloud Service Provider (CSP) to join the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), the industry body established to promote trust, security, and transparency within the sector.

Trend Micro’s expertise in the cloud security arena was recently recognised when its data protection offering, SecureCloud, was awarded Best Cloud Security Product at the V3 Technology Awards 2012. SecureCloud provides data protection for public and private clouds, as well as VMware vSphere virtual environments.

“Many companies today already have 'something' running in the cloud, however security remains a primary concern for businesses in their journey to the cloud”, said Andy Dancer, CTO (EMEA) at Trend Micro. “By working with the Cloud Industry Forum and its Code of Practice, we are committed to encouraging best practice and professional standards for service providers as well as working towards allowing businesses to unlock the benefits of cloud adoption in a smooth and painless manner.”

Andy Burton, Chairman of CIF and CEO of Fasthosts, said: “The last few years have seen cloud uptake increase dramatically, with well over half of UK organisations are using some type of cloud service. But security concerns are slowing down the overall the pace of adoption and limiting the range of applications being deployed in the cloud. Trend Micro’s innovative and highly successful approach to security will therefore make them a valuable and very welcome fixture to CIF.

“CIF members are directly responsible for the shape, format and strategy of the Cloud Industry Forum in advancing trust between consumers and providers of cloud services and, as such, are instrumental in influencing public confidence and industry best practice. Trend Micro is an important addition to count among our membership because it is one of the biggest brands in the IT industry having proven technical and commercial ability to deliver cloud-based security solutions for businesses on a global basis,” he concluded.
