Unicom launches community support scheme

Business telecoms provider Unicom is launching a Community Support Scheme, offering funding for community organisations around its ten regional offices.

The scheme invites applications from community groups which support disadvantaged people, promote sport and the arts, support education and development and help the environment.

Unicom’s Operations Director, Chris Earle is spearheading the campaign and is keen to see the firm give something back to the community. Talking at the launch of the initiative, Chris said:

“Unicom takes a pride in its position, not just as a local employer but also as a successful telecoms provider helping local businesses save money.

“Our ongoing success means we are able to offer financial support to some of the excellent community initiatives which make the towns and cities where Unicom is based a better place to live.

“Many of these groups rely on the dedication and commitment of volunteers and we hope to assist those most in need of funding to continue providing essential community services.”

Unicom employs 500 staff at its ten UK offices with 300 based at its Manchester headquarters. Community groups which benefit local people in Manchester, Nottingham, Crawley, Milton Keynes, Ipswich, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Leeds and Sheffield are invited to apply to the scheme.
