VegaStream and StoneVoice Open World of Skype to Traditional PBX’s

IP gateway vendor VegaStream has announced successful interoperability with StoneVoice applications, enabling business gateway users to receive and make low cost Skype calls. Combining its media gateways with applications including Interactive Voice Response, Audio Conferencing and Skype, VegaStream is providing the full value of Unified Communications to traditional PBX’s.

“Business communications have evolved. Companies require a unified approach to their infrastructure and through the interoperability of StoneVoice’s next generation applications and our media gateways, resellers and service providers can leverage the opportunity to provide the value-add IP Telephony services that today’s end-users demand,” comments Steve Davis, VP sales and marketing at VegaStream. “Integrating traditional PBX’s with Skype, SkypeIn, and SkypeOut via our gateways, the analogue business world can interconnect with the Skype community both simply and cost effectively.”

Gateways provide a compelling migratory approach to IP, enabling the end-user to protect their existing communications investment whilst benefiting from immediate advantages of IP at a far lower cost and without any disruption. Now, the additional interoperability with StoneVoice applications increases the opportunity for resellers and service providers to introduce new margin opportunities with value-add solutions such as Skype that are of high value and low risk to both the channel and the end-user. Davis explains;

“Using VegaStream and Stonevoice, businesses can both simplify and enhance business telephony by accessing Skype. Providing connectivity for inbound and outbound calls between Skype accounts and office desk phones we can immediately allow all employees to take full advantage of Skype services without disruption or massive financial outlay. Customers can reduce call costs, and can use Skype as a competitive differentiator, for example, offering international customers local phone numbers for customer care, or providing a “click to talk with us for free” button on their own website.”

When connecting existing customer voice equipment to IP networks, VegaStream gateways allow service providers to offer IP voice as part of its overall connectivity service package. The compatibility with StoneVoice now makes it simple for these partners to provide more feature-rich applications to suit their end-users requirements and increase the value of services.
