Video Corporation Launches Hosted Video Conferencing Service

Video Corporation, the specialist distributor and wholly owned subsidiary of Imago Group plc, is launching a new cloud-based, cost-effective video collaboration service based on Vidyo telepresence technology.

The new hosted service, VaaS-t (Video as a Service – trade only), will be available through Video Corporation’s channel of authorised resellers and will enable them to provide customers with HD room, desktop and mobile video conferencing with full content sharing capability. VaaS-t is based upon Vidyo’s award-winning platform utlising H.264 Scalable Video Coding compression technology which optimizes video quality despite the vagaries of a standard Internet connection. By eliminating delays, distortion and dropped calls, smooth, uninterrupted delivery of HD telepresence is assured on any suitable device. Because VaaS-t is available from virtually any internet or 3G connection, users are not restricted from where or when they call.

Because VaaS-t is cloud-based, customers will not be required to make a capital investment or install new hardware. Andy Wright, Managing Director at Video Corporation, said: “All they will need is a desktop, laptop or mobile device with a camera and microphone or headset. The advantage to resellers is that there is no minimum contract to negotiate and they can offer customers either monthly or annual billing on which we are offering very generous margins. And, because VaaS-t is SVC-based, the user experience, whether over the internet or 3G on a PC or on a mobile device, is second to none.”

VaaS-t is simple to use, with an intuitive graphical user interface, contact directory (including ‘Presence’ indication and automatic software installation and updates.) Users can share content, conference with multiple participants on the same call, or participate in a call to a room-based system.
