Network operator Virtual1 has today announced the completion of a series of infrastructure upgrades specifically designed to enhance its network capabilities. Working in partnership with business communications provider Scalable, and industry-leading hardware provider Juniper, Virtual1’s network now benefits from enhanced capacity, increased resiliency and – through integration with additional carriers – access to a wider geographic footprint.
Managing Director Tom O’Hagan commented: “We have seen tremendous demand for high capacity solutions from our partners. In part, this has been driven by the significant increase in the number of businesses adopting capacity-intensive cloud-based solutions. Since the beginning of this year alone, we have seen a 30% growth in demand and we fully expect this to continue. Investing in our network is therefore a high priority.”
After an initial consultation, Virtual1 chose Scalable to help them design and deliver a Juniper-based upgrade to their core network. O’Hagan continued: “Scalable was excellent, helping us to closely define our specific requirements and ensuring the Juniper solution more than met our requirements.”
Scalable also facilitated a full ‘proof of concept’ programme with Juniper, using Juniper’s state-of-the-art facilities in Amsterdam. As part of the programme, Juniper carried out extensive scenario testing to ensure hardware would deliver effectively.
O’Hagan concluded: “Increased demand for high capacity is a trend which has been mirrored across the industry. Our investment in our network means we can deliver the enhanced speeds, flexibility and resilience our partners need to build the ideal network for their customers – both now and in the future.”
