VME Retail Check Out Thus Network

Thus has been selected by VME Retail, a supplier of management solutions for some of the UK’s leading retailers, to connect 58 Lothian & Borders Co-Op supermarkets using Thus ’ next-generation network. Thus and VME Retail’s solution will speed up transaction times and enable a higher level of customer service for the Co-Op’s customers.

The managed Multi Protocol Label Switch (MPLS) network will provide a cost effective solution delivering high bandwidth at a lower cost per megabit than traditional Leased Lines, enabling the Co-Op’s 58 sites to connect to VME Retail’s EPOS systems.

Transactional data, Internet access and till uploads will all converge across the new network, protected by THUS’ managed firewall service, ensuring that business critical data is secure and processes rationalised to reduce costs.

VME Retail selected Thus due to its experience in the retail sector and its ability to build resilience into the network – allowing a more robust and scaleable architecture and its bespoke competitive pricing. This solution will allow the Co-Op to focus on its core business while Thus and VME Retail ensure network performance.

Stephen Gill, Managing Director at VME Retail commented: “Thus has significant experience of providing network solutions to the retail sector. Working with THUS, we will be providing Lothian & Borders Co-Ops with a fully end-to-end, resilient infrastructure that will converge the large quantities of transactional data processed every day. Once it is rolled out, the Co-Op’s staff and customers will benefit from increased transaction speeds, improving customer service while at the same time allowing the Co-Op to reduce costs.”

Phil Male, Chief Operating Officer at Thus said, "The Co-op needs a robust network that will enable its stores across Lothian & Borders to process transaction data quickly and cost-effectively. We can meet these requirements utilising the most advanced next-generation networking technology to deliver high bandwidth connections that are both secure and reliable."
