Midlands based communications provider Wavenet has completed the acquisition of UK Data IT, the Worcester based vendor of CallGard, a cloud based service that prevents call centres and companies making unauthorised phone calls to members of the TPS (Telephone Preference Service).

Now, with the addition of UK Data IT’s CallGard product, we can expand their sales opportunities even further with an application that prevents call centres risking fines from the regulator by falling foul of the TPS rules.”
Firms which flout the TPS rules can currently be fined up to £500,000 by the Information Commissioner’s Office and in the last six months three such firms have been fined £35,000 or more.
Bill Dawson continued, “CallGard is an automatic call screening solution which screens outbound calls against your internal Do Not Call records and the most recent TPS and CTPS files as the call is made. Should an attempt be made to contact an individual who is on any of the records a message will advise the caller that the number dialed does not wish to receive marketing calls, and the call is barred.”
He concluded, “CallGard, which joins our hosted telephony, connectivity and mobile product offerings for the channel, is a real value add to a reseller portfolio. CallGard is hosted in the telephone network and is available for Analogue, ISDN and VoIP connections. There is no need for customer premise equipment. It can be implemented very quickly and is scalable from the smallest contact centre up to large multi site operations.”
