Microsoft Windows 8 is keenly anticipated because it provides an ‘iPad style’ interface for the plethora of Windows devices which are available from a wide range of hardware manufacturers, and is suitable for both consumer and enterprise-orientated models.
The mobile software application specialist, TAAP, has welcomed the release of the new Windows 8 operating system, stating how there has been some resistance to adopting BYOD strategies in many organisations because of concerns about security, management, data control, and scalability.
The new Microsoft Windows operating system is designed to act in exactly the same way across all types of device including PC, tablet, and PDAs/smartphones. TAAP believes that this approach should mean that multiple device estates will be easier for IT departments to control. One operating system across a range of devices should make things more manageable and secure, thus fitting comfortably into the enterprise space.
Matt Pluck, Systems Consultant at TAAP said “Although TAAP provides software applications for multiple platforms such as Android and iPad, as well as Windows Mobile, we have found that some clients are reluctant to move to a Bring Your Own Device strategy because of the range and diversity of operating systems and devices that must be managed. IT Managers are rightly worried about how to control installation of software, data protection and encryption, and the level of support knowledge required. Having the option of one operating system across a multitude of devices goes some way to allay those fears.”
Data such as text, photos, annotation, and electronic signatures can be captured using TAAP’s mobile applications, so that organisations can mobilise their workforce and provide accurate information from field based employees.
