Xirrus Named as Visionary

M2M & IoT
Xirrus has today announced Gartner has positioned Xirrus in the “Visionaries” quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure report

Gartner evaluated enterprise LAN vendors providing wired and wireless access layer connectivity. This market consists of vendors that supply wired and wireless networking hardware and software that provides device connectivity to the enterprise infrastructure access layer. These wired and wireless local-area networking components may include hardware wireless access points, wired switches, controllers and software network service applications such as network management and policy enforcement.

Among the trends in the wired and wireless LAN access layer space, Gartner states, “Our research finds that vendors are differentiating their access points with new antennas to address more granular location requirements and connectivity options that allow the access point to be used as a hub or gateway to the network to support video surveillance cameras and other peripherals to name a few.”

The number of Wi-Fi connected devices is unprecedented and continues to grow at a rapid rate. This requires businesses to re-evaluate how they design their Wi-Fi networks with performance and security in mind. People expect an all-wireless world where they can connect, no matter the location or device. But in order to meet and exceed these expectations, Wi-Fi networks need to deliver robust solutions with optimal performance, security and reliability. As such, access layer vendors continue to evolve their products, including the hardware, software and applications needed to provide a complete solution. To support the needs of this ever-changing market, Xirrus’ suite of Wi-Fi solutions – high density access points, access points, cloud management services and location-based services – provide seamless connectivity and unified management across the network.

Gartner cites “onboarding services, including device authentication and user authorization services for BYOD programs that support many operating systems and device postures, and analytic applications that look not only at the network but also the end-user data to help organizations have a better insight into the performance of their access layer networks,” among others are what network administrators require.

"We believe Xirrus being named as a visionary vendor in Gartner’s Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure Magic Quadrant achievement validates the strength of our next-generation Wi-Fi solutions and our unwavering commitment to innovation,” said Shane Buckley, CEO of Xirrus. “Over the past year, Xirrus delivered several first-to-market Wi-Fi solutions including our Xtreme Density (XD), XD2 and X2 access points, EasyPass and XPS software solutions to customers across a broad range of sectors, including enterprise, education, healthcare, government and hospitality. The proliferation of Wi-Fi connected devices combined with the expectation of fast, reliable, easy Wi-Fi connectivity increases demand on Wi-Fi networks everywhere and we are committed to continue delivering innovative solutions that meet those demands.”
