XLN Telecom Set to Shake Up Mobile Market

Networks & Network Services
XLN Telecom says it is set to dramatically shake up the UK mobile market with the launch of its new, money-saving mobile phone services which have been specifically tailored to meet the needs of Britain’s smaller businesses.

From December 1st 2009, XLN Telecom’s entry level mobile package will charge just 5p a minute for all UK calls irrespective of the number of calls made in a month. Line rental under the package will be free. By comparison, say XLN, comparable tariffs from major providers typically start with call costs at 20p a minute.

The introduction of the new mobile services from XLN Telecom, which currently provides landline and broadband services to over 125,000 businesses, follows a period of extensive research amongst its customer base in which 42 per cent of SME directors surveyed stated they felt they paid too much for their current mobile communications plans. Furthermore, 65 per cent said they had no mechanism in place to control the cost of their mobile phone usage¹.

With this in mind, XLN specifically designed a range of mobile tariffs to allow its customers to talk longer for less by providing the best value on mobile call minutes in the UK – this being the service that those businesses surveyed said they used the most.

Under the tariffs being introduced, customers can choose from Mobile 5, the exclusive to XLN, flat rate, pay monthly tariff that includes free line rental, calls for just 5p per minute and SMS texts for 5p each, through to contract plans such as the Mobile 400 for £7.99 a month and the Mobile 600 for £13.99 which include 400 and 600 minutes or texts, respectively, as well as a free SIM card and free calls to other mobiles and landlines on the same XLN account³.

Christian Nellemann, Group CEO of XLN Telecom, commented: “From the beginning, XLN Telecom has always been committed to being the best value champion for small businesses in the UK. We now are delighted to offer best value mobile phone services to complement those we already provide for landline calls and broadband. For too long SMEs have been forced to pay over the top for mobile services they just do not need or particularly want. By designing mobile tariffs based around what our business land-line customers say they actually need, we are now able to completely shake-up the market in this sector.”

Under the XLN’s mobile tariffs, all usage is billed monthly in arrears. To use the service, customers can either use their existing mobile handsets with a new XLN SIM or buy a new handset from the select XLN range. All mobile calls are routed through XLN Telecom’s mobile network.
