ISP Zen Internet has added more features to its Home Talk and Business Talk products, making them, they say, some of the best featured but lowest priced telephone line services available.

With line rental from £11.22 (inc VAT) per month, the Talk range is ideal for customers that only need a telephone line for their Broadband service. But with per second billing and no minimum or set-up charges Talk also provides significant savings on calls. There is even the option of inclusive call packages for busy landline users.

These products have now been available for just over a year and provide the same high level of service and support as Zen’s award winning broadband for both home and business customers. Home Talk and Business Talk provide a one-stop-shop for both broadband and telephone services. Customers benefit from being able to use Zen for talking as well as surfing, by only having to deal with one supplier saving both time and money.

New features include the 1571 Answer Phone service to make sure customers never miss an important call or message. Like a traditional answering machine this service answers calls, plays a personal greeting and takes messages if you are not available. In addition if you are already engaged on a call the optional call waiting feature provides the option to take a message from a second caller, a useful option that an answering machine cannot provide.

Other new features includes a range of Call Barring options, that offer Talk subscribers the ability to restrict outgoing calls but always allows calls to the emergency services. Together with other existing features like Call Diversion this gives Talk the added ability to meet the needs of more sophisticated home office and business applications.

It’s free to transfer an existing telephone line to Zen for most users and in line with its broadband services; Zen has a minimum one month contract for Home Talk and Business Talk. Unlike most other providers, Zen does not have a minimum call set up or call connection fee – Zen believes customers should only be charged for the time they are talking helping to make call charge with Zen highly competitive. In fact ZEN says a 3 minute call with Zen can cost up to 80% cheaper than an equivalent call with BT.

The Home Talk package allows customers to make daytime calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers for as little as 1 pence per minute, and by selecting Zen’s Home Talk Plus calls package, customers receive 1000 inclusive minutes per month to UK landlines at anytime of the day and the most commonly dialled international destinations cost as little as 3p per minute.

For business customers, from Small Office/Home Office to larger Enterprises there is Business Talk and Business Talk Plus. Zen’s Business Talk package allows customers to make daytime UK landline calls for as little as 1 pence per minute and by selecting Zen’s Business Talk Plus Inclusive calls package, calls to the most commonly dialled international destinations cost as little as 2 pence per minute. Business Talk and Business Talk Plus also offer the benefits of a minimum one month contract as well as highly competitive call rates. Zen also offers a range of additional calling features in feature packs at a fraction of the monthly price of many other suppliers.

‘These new features have been added in response to customer feedback and as part of our ongoing development of our phone services. Home Talk and Business Talk products aim to provide calls packages that see our customers save considerable amounts on their phone bill quickly and easily. They also provide our customers with the confidence that these services come with the same high level of service and support as Zen’s award winning broadband,” said Andrew Saunders, Head of Product Management and Marketing.
