Huawei Vision smartphone

Well, you know what Thin Lizzy said… ‘Man, you don’t stand a chance if you go down in China town’. Look out for this Chinese competitor in the land of mass market smartphones and tablets, as its products, which are priced to appeal to many, have a look, feel and usability that is reassuringly good.

Huawei is set to launch the MediaPad, a seven inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet with a unibody design, with a 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm processor and 1080p full HD video recording and playback, in the first quarter of 2012. It is priced at a reasonable, although not cheap, £275 plus VAT, making it definitely one of the more affordable tablets on the market.

MediaPad features a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and five megapixel autofocus rear-facing camera with HD video record and playback. It allows 14.4Mbps HSPA+ and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, as well as six hour battery life, supports Flash 10.3 and comes preinstalled with Facebook, Twitter, Let’s Golf and Documents to Go.

Also coming some time soon is the Vision smartphone in the UK, featuring a fancy unibody design and a rather cool 3D carousel user interface, which allows you to stack a hefty 17 screens for your delectation.

Huawei Vision runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3, using a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8255 processor. It features a customisable user interface that enables home screen panels to be explored easily and rendered in a number of ways, supports 720p video recording and playback, and features a five megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. It measures just 9.9mm at its thinnest point and weighs around 121g.

Altogether two nicely put together devices that are set to attract a young audience looking for something good quality, that won’t break the bank. Hen hao, tai bang le Huawei!
