The 6300 is the new starlet in the Series 40 3rd Edition line, a high-end, classic-look successor to the big-selling 6230/6320i -- the 6233 just wasn’t exciting enough. This time around the styling is conservative but attractive in a classic Nokia way, the handset is impressively slim at 12mm, and it’s loaded with audio-playing goodies like the FM radio, 2.5mm audio jack and Bluetooth with A2DP stereo support.
There’s a very good user interface with a highly functional menu and loads of customisation; the keypad and display are frankly brilliant. The 6300 comes in black and silver; everything black is a glossy plastic, the silver parts are steel and contribute to an extremely solid feel.
We liked the two mini-LEDs on the edge that blink to alert you to missed calls or received messages. And hidden in the bottom is a real miniUSB connector instead of the pop port used by Nokia in almost all previous models.
On the downside the 2mp camera is pretty poor, the side keys are difficult to press, and the black bits of the body mean it is prone to fingerprint smudges.
