SAMSUNG X820i

Networks & Network Services
Just 6.9mm – that’s the thickness of the world’s slimmest mobile phone.
At the same time the X820 offers a rich feature set, a comfortable keypad, 82MB of internal memory, and a brilliant display in landscape format (long edge horizontal, PC-style). The build quality is superb – no creaks, no rough edges, and no metal (it’s all plastic, which helps explain the weight – 66 grams). There’s a 2mp camera, EDGE if you could find somewhere to use it, and quad-band connectivity.
Even so, it remains just a bit from real perfection. The slimness means there’s no room for an infrared port (no great loss) and no memory card slot (more of a problem – there’s only 80MB memory on broad). The X820 cannot vibrate and ring simultaneously. The glossy screen means visibility in direct sunlight is pretty poor. And while the keyboard is generally good, the central navigation key is insufficiently differentiated. That’s the only real drawback in the X820’s otherwise superb controls, though.
• Nice try, but no cigar (maybe a cigarillo).
