Shazam launches “ultimate music discovery engine”

Shazam, developer of a neat mobile music recognition service, has launched what it calls “the world’s largest and most comprehensive music discovery engine”.

Users can recognise, or ‘tag’, tracks by simply dialling 2580 on their mobile and pointing their handset at a music source, but also purchase related products. Having received the music recognition result by SMS, they can now choose to buy associated products such as ringtones, full track downloads, wallpapers, cover art and even CDs or gig tickets.

The new discovery engine also stores details of all tracks tagged by a user on a personal page at www.shazam.com, accessible either via PC or WAP.

The service costs £3 per month for unlimited tagging. And for £4.50 they add two additional products, either ringtones or full track downloads.
Shazam works in the UK across all operators and on all handsets.
