Vodafone delivers to deaf

Networks & Network Services

RNID, the charity for the deaf and hard of hearing, has developed an innovative real-time texting service that runs on Nokia smartphones. The software allows anyone with a modern mobile telephone to have real-time text conversations of unlimited duration or characters. All mobile operators have a legal obligation to provide mobile textphone solutions to deaf people in the UK, but Vodafone appears to be alone in delivering on this. RNID is calling on all network operators to provide its software to customers, which seems reasonable enough.
