3Com Launches VCX Connect at the SMB Market

3Com Corporation today announced immediate availability of what they describe as being affordable IP telephony solutions that bring feature-rich enterprise-calibre IP communications to small and medium-sized organisations with 25 to 500 phone users.

Their new 3Com VCX Connect is an all-in-one platform that delivers Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) software-based IP telephony call control and unified messaging in a single-server package, enabling SMBs to unify communications and applications on an open architecture platform.

There are two versions: the VCX Connect 100 delivers voice capabilities for organisations with 25 to 100 users, and the VCX Connect 200 delivers the same performance for up to 500 users. Mutliple VCX Connect servers can be interconnected over an IP network allowing organisations with offices in several locations to benefit from a single unified phone system. Users can even roam between offices, retaining the same phone number and accessing the same features.

"Now, smaller organisations in the UK can improve communications and collaboration to support growth and business continuity," says Gary Newbold, 3Com’s UK Country Manager. "VCX Connect enables SMBs to combine enterprise-class IP telephony performance with features such as integrated productivity applications and system redundancy for maximum resilience. UK customers are already taking advantage of this easy-to-use, low-cost package."

Newbold continues, "Convergence is about more than just unified communications. It is enabling communications tied with an organisation's applications of choice — proprietary or Open Source — and available today or developed in the future. These applications can be phone-, PC- and server-based and include tightly coupled security and data infrastructure. 3Com VCX Connect changes the VoIP marketplace by delivering an application-enabled communications platform today."
