Reading based supplier 8el has launched a service called Callport say that because it is a managed service it makes it different to its competitors. It is the voice equivalent to SaaS, i.e. 8el uses remote access to make sure that the service is available and reliable, but the end user controls its usage and configuration via the GUI.
Callport is an IP Centrex service that has been developed by 8el to sit on its own NGN IP platform, which supports a range of other WAN and ISP services. As a carrier-grade service using QoS (Quality of Service) enabled technology, the clarity of calls is comparable with traditional fixed line services. The service can be easily administered by a central administrator, via a Web-based interface, ensuring control is maintained in-house. Individual users can also integrate services with their mobile phones, opt in and out of hunt groups, hot-desk, record calls and set up call-conferencing.
