The Award recognises the individual within the industry that most clearly demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, drive and the qualities needed to build a successful telecoms business. These include tenacity, self belief, creativity, a strong work ethic and vision.
At the age of 32, Alastair was one of the youngest CEOs of a listed company when appointed in 2005 and in 2006 he launched the Company’s successful ‘acquire, integrate and grow’ strategy. Since then, SpiriTel has acquired six telecoms resellers and built a new B2B Division servicing over 2,300 SME and major corporate customers including Whitbread, Lufthansa and BBC Worldwide. Today SpiriTel is recognised as a leader in the provision of a range of converged voice and data services to UK businesses. The Company recently signed a £4m contract with a major global hotel group for the provision of network services across its UK estate. During the last 12 months, the Business Division has delivered strong organic growth, driven by cross selling successes valued at over £7m.
In announcing the award, the judges commented, “SpiriTel is a growing and profitable company with the flexibility to adapt to changes in the industry. Alastair has developed a well structured successful telecoms business and is a worthy winner.”
