Alcatel-Lucent is announcing a major new strategic relationship with BT, designed to help organisations secure data on mobile employees’ laptops. Alcatel-Lucent will provide BT with its powerful Nonstop Laptop Guardian security technology, which will be incorporated into BT’s portfolio of flexible working solutions, typically sold to organisations with more than 100 mobile employees.
Alcatel-Lucent’s technology ensures that if a laptop is reported lost or stolen, all data held on the device can be immediately and automatically destroyed, even if the computer is turned off. It also enables organisations to take remote control of any laptop to apply security patches or track its location. The new BT offering will be initially available in the UK, with a spring launch targeted for several other European territories.
