Alcatel Ranked Number One in Q2 EMEA Enterprise Telephony Market

Alcatel has announced that it has confirmed its market share leadership position for enterprise telephony in EMEA. According to research firm Canalys, Alcatel leads the market in enterprise telephony line shipments in EMEA for Q2 2005, with a 16.4% market share.

Data from Canalys also indicated that Alcatel's shipments for the region have increased by nearly 5.9% over the same quarter last year, outgrowing both the EMEA and global markets for enterprise telephony line shipments. Canalys noted Alcatel's success with its Alcatel OmniPCX in the 100-plus line market segment, particularly in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Middle East and Africa, and Spain. The Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise is an IP telephony platform designed for medium and large enterprises, with a unique dual IP/TDM capability that protects customer investments in traditional telecommunications, while enabling a smooth evolution towards IP communication.

"Our market-leading performance in the enterprise telephony market confirms that our strategy to offer solutions that allow enterprises to migrate to IP telephony at their own pace is what customers want," said Jean-Luc Fourniou, senior vice president, Alcatel's enterprise solutions activities. "Today's enterprise customers will not 'rip-and-replace' their infrastructure to move to IP telephony, but rather implement solutions that protect previous investments and demonstrate a clear business value though reduced costs and integrated applications."
