alwaysON appoints Jon Daniel as COO

Jon Daniel has become alwaysON’s Chief Operating Officer. Daniel has a track record in “dual- play” and triple-play” voice and data communications having held several senior posts at BT, IBM and the cable industry.

Commenting on his appointment, Jon Daniel said: “I am a passionate believer in the benefits of VoIP for businesses and am delighted to join alwaysON, the dominant IP Centrex player in the UK. My hands-on experience of creating innovative converged services and transforming service performance will drive alwaysON to the next level for the benefit of both our business customers and channel partners.”

Prior to joining alwaysON, Jon was an independent management consultant advising board-level directors of FTSE 100 companies on converged communications strategies. He developed converged platforms capable of delivering the “triple-play” of TV, voice and high-speed Internet over DSL for both a major UK pay-TV provider and a major UK ISP. As project manager, he was responsible for the network systems component of Cable & Wireless’ voice-over-IP implementation for corporate customers.

Before establishing himself as an independent management consultant, he held two senior posts in BT. As General Manager for Service Assurance in BT he had responsibility for all service improvement programmes for BT’s portfolio of DSL-based broadband services. As SVP Advanced Broadband Services he lead development of the “triple-play” of integrated fast Internet, voice and TV services for consumers and SMEs for BTOpenworld, BT’s mass-market ISP. Jon joined BT from IBM Global Services where, as senior managing consultant, he led large teams of consultants and client representatives on major business transformation and strategy programmes for IBM/s major European telecommunications clients.
