Ascom Wireless Solutions in Major Channel Development

For the first time in its 45 year history, Ascom (UK) is looking to develop a VAR programme. The move follows Ascom’s launch late last year of raft of new VoWiFi and IP DECT applications that enhance what already was one of the most comprehensive wireless offerings available.

John Burns, Ascom UK’s MD stated: ‘For some years now we have been working with other system providers installing integrated wireless solutions. Now with the introduction of our VoWiFi and IP DECT applications, we have the opportunity to widen market scope. Given the ever increasing convergence in the wireless comms world, we believe that now is the right time to look for like minded partners to help us achieve our overall strategy of maintaining Ascom at the forefront of wireless solutions’.

One of the key products in Ascom’s VAR programme will be the new i75 VoWiFi Handset and associated applications. Designed specifically for environments where a high level of security is a must, the Ascom i75 combines voice, interactive messaging, personal alarms and WiFi capability. It is IEEE 802.11b/g compliant and has a wealth of other operational benefits. In a head to head with handsets from other leading manufacturers it was voted ‘Best VoWLAN telephone’ at the ICT Show, in Stockholm, Sweden. The Ascom i75 was particularly praised for it’s open architecture, making it easy to interface with third party equipment. It has also been verified and approved for interoperability with certain Cisco Systems.
