Avaya Culls IP Office Small Office Variants

Avaya is to cease supply of six out of their ten IP Office variants as from 5th December 2005.

The vendor says that as part of its on-going program of product life cycle management they tracks key performance indicators for its portfolio on a regular basis to ensure that the mix and range of products remain competitively and profitably positioned to meet customer needs.

Based on current shipment data and market data, Avaya has decided to narrow the range of IP Office – Small Office Edition variants from ten to four. Effective, 7 November 2005, the analog-only and DT-oriented variants of Small Office Edition were made unavailable for sale.

Avaya says that during the 18 months since the introduction of Small Office Edition it is clear that the large majority of demand is for variants featuring both Digital Station and analog ports. With this in mind, Avaya is announcing the End-of-Sale of all variants that feature analog ports only as well as those supporting previous generation DT (20 Series) phones.

Avaya maintains that Small Office Edition remains an important element of the IP Office portfolio and that the reduction in the number of variants enables Business Partners and customers to focus on recognised high demand variants.
