Avaya Forges Global Strategic Alliance With Equant

Avaya and Equant have announced they have formed a global strategic alliance to jointly deliver solutions that provide customers with advanced IP communications. The relationship paves the way for future collaboration between Avaya and Equant around the development of IP communications and related applications.

As Avaya's first global Strategic Alliance Partner for IP telephony and IP contact center services authorized in all regions concurrently, Equant is delivering an integrated Avaya-based solution to its enterprise customers. Customers will benefit from Equant's extensive global reach for IP telephony solutions in 95 countries and the advanced features of its "intelligent network" working hand-in-hand with Avaya Communications Manager to deliver calling features that match and even exceed traditional voice services.

The key benefits for customers are:

Lower cost solutions.

Protection of existing investments.

Mitigated risk of migrating to new technology .

Simplified sourcing by reducing the number of external suppliers.

Single global point of contact.

The first joint offering, available today, is a managed IP telephony communications solution designed specifically for multinational companies. The solution boasts a high degree of flexibility and scalability and integrates a comprehensive layer of Avaya applications with a feature-rich VoIP VPN service from Equant. The new offer includes integrated, end-to-end lifecycle support from consulting to implementation and on-going managed services support.

Under the terms of the agreement, Equant is licensed to resell Avaya's industry leading portfolio of products as part of their Enterprise Telephony service in 95-plus countries. In addition, Equant will provide hosted IP communications services for selected customers based on Avaya technology. Equant also selected Avaya as a key partner to fulfill the company's multi-vendor strategy for voice services.

These steps increase the ability of both organizations to service large global customers, and ensures Equant continues to provide cutting-edge, flexible communications to its customer base.

"The combination of Avaya's IP telephony and contact center applications with the Equant global network makes for a very powerful proposition to the global market place," said Denzil Samuels, vice president and general manager, Avaya Global Managed Services. "The global services capabilities each company brings to the relationship further enhances our ability to respond to needs of our customers wherever they may be in the world."

The partnership builds on a relationship that began in March 2004 when Equant began working with Avaya to develop an interoperable service based on Avaya Communication Manager and Equant's VoIP VPN service architecture.

Pierre-Louis Biaggi, head of Equant's Integration Services Business Unit, said: "This strategic partnership clearly highlights both companies' commitment to providing first-class communications solutions that deliver business value to enterprises around the globe. As IT executives continue to move their organizations to converged IP communications, they will be looking for business technology partnerships that can deliver the right solutions on a global scale. Equant and Avaya will be at the forefront of this."
