Vodafone UK and RIM today announced the arrival of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone. On sale today for all new and existing Vodafone UK customers, the BlackBerry Bold is the first BlackBerry smartphone to run on Vodafone’s fastest and most reliable high speed mobile broadband network, and a foundation for fast and efficient access to the web, email attachments and other business applications.

Crafted from premium materials inside and out, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone delivers advanced communications and multimedia features with outstanding performance and an elegant design.

Mobile users will enjoy top quality phone, messaging, organiser, web browser and email applications, including the ability to edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the smartphone using the preinstalled DataViz Documents to Go software suite.

The BlackBerry Bold smartphone comes with built-in enterprise grade WiFi (802.11 a/b/g) and integrated GPS that supports location based applications including Vodafone Sat Nav. The BlackBerry Bold also features a large half-VGA colour display (480x320 resolution at 217 ppi) that presents eye-popping images and smooth video playback to complement its rich set of multimedia capabilities including a media player for music, photos and videos and a two megapixel camera with video recording.

Elaine Roberts, head of enterprise marketing at Vodafone UK, commented: “The powerful combination of the BlackBerry Bold on Vodafone’s fastest and most reliable network provides our customers with the ability to work more flexibly than ever before. Following Vodafone’s annual Critical Response Time Index, which emphasises how a third of UK businesses continue to expect an email response to their new business enquiries within two hours, the arrival of BlackBerry Bold and it’s unrivalled functionality has never been more timely for our customers.”
