BroadSoft Ups the Tempo with Integration Announcements

At its annual Connections partner conference held this week in Phoenix, Arizona, Broadsoft has made a number of announcements for their hosted/cloud based telephony and UCaaS offerings.

There is a lot of emphasis on workplace collaboration and the company also took the opportunity to reveal that it has surpassed 12 million cloud unified communications lines deployed globally. European SVP Mike Wilkinson stressed the word ‘deployed’ when he spoke to Comms Business Magazine and noted the shipping figures are much higher.

The first step in the rollout of Project Tempo will be the release of a beta version “UC-One Hub,” in the first quarter of 2016. UC-One Hub is a cloud service that integrates real-time communications with cloud applications and offers contextual intelligence – allowing users to be more efficient and productive. The beta will initially run on BroadSoft’s UC-One Communicator using Google Chrome, and feature off-the-shelf cloud application integrations with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive, in addition to Concur, Redbooth, and Twitter.

Comms Business perceives the significance in announcing the use of Google’s Chrome browser is a nod to the immanent introduction of WebRTC by Broadsoft.

Today, BroadSoft believes that workforce productivity in the enterprise is suffering because various tools and off-the-shelf applications used by teams and workers to communicate only address niche solutions, and are disjointed from workflow processes. This often creates scattered communications, ineffective meetings, and fragmented workflows decreasing productivity and decision-making.

Project Tempo is BroadSoft’s vision for next generation contextual unified communications, focused on developing and designing products and technologies around the following core components:

• UC-One Hub, a new centralized user experience that aggregates fragmented communications and information at the desktop and while on the move

• UC-One, a comprehensive and market-leading cloud solution featuring the broadest range of real-time communications services, which is the foundation for UC-One Hub

• Application Integrations that enable users to exchange information with pre-built and custom cloud applications and social media directly from UC-One

• Contextual intelligence that presents and integrates situation-dependent information, such as the user’s conversations, social profiles, projects, files, availability and more

• Enterprise messaging that allows users to create dedicated and persistent project rooms to share documents, manage tasks, coordinate activities, and more

• Unified directory services that let service providers federate advanced BroadSoft capabilities to communities of enterprises outside their network boundaries

• Enabling Building Blocks that include Open Source Software, SDKs, APIs and Software Libraries for third-party application integration and customization

“The fact that BroadSoft supports 26 of the top 30 global service providers demonstrates our success and market leadership,” said Michael Tessler, chief executive officer, BroadSoft. “We believe that Project Tempo is an innovative initiative that extends BroadSoft’s position as a UCaaS global market leader, creates new revenue sources for service providers and meets the communications and collaboration needs of the emerging millennial workforce majority.”

Service providers will have the flexibility to deliver BroadSoft UC-One and Project Tempo services via the BroadWorks platform, or as a fully managed hosted service from BroadSoft’s cloud infrastructure, BroadCloud.

Other Broadsoft announcements from Phoenix include a new release level of functionality for their Broadcloud service and an integration with Oracle’s Cloud-Ready Collaboration Suite.

The new release software will be available next month and the company says it will bring the full capabilities of UC-One and SIP Trunking services to BroadCloud, and also includes service assurance enhancements, new terminal device options from AudioCodes, Polycom, and Yealink, and a UC-One Hospitality solution. This release will extend the market coverage of BroadCloud from a SMB hosted PBX solution to hosted UC solution capable of serving large enterprises.

BroadCloud provides service providers with a managed, end-to-end operating platform, which supports the full life-cycle of the business customer – from initial quote to service activation to support processes. By managing the end-to-end customer sales and service implementation process, BroadCloud can significantly reduce a service provider’s internal development and infrastructure investments. BroadCloud is a white labeled service that service providers brand, market and sell to their customers, retaining the customer relationship, without losing flexibility. With control over pricing, branding, and system portals, service providers can cater the solution and user experience to fit their target markets.

Oracle Integration

Broadsoft is a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) and in Phoenix , Oracle exhibited the open capabilities of its Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite with BroadSoft’s UC-One service offerings, a solution for hosted-PBX, unified communications and collaboration.

The cloud-ready Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite includes messaging, calendar, presence, instant messaging and contact management. The integration makes these capabilities available with BroadSoft’s voice, video, screen and file sharing solution. Fixed mobile users will be able to access a full suite of BroadSoft and Oracle capabilities through a single, virtually seamless interface.

“Our service provider customers are asking for a communication-enabled collaboration suite that can help them grow in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” says Carl Dcosta, vice president, alliances and channels, Oracle. “The demonstration of the BroadSoft UC-One and Oracle Communications Unified Communications Suite provides a robust offering giving CSPs a fully functional communications and collaboration environment to help them reclaim communications.”

The solutions enable service providers to offer collaboration that includes real-time context aware capabilities, feature-rich virtual PBX, virtual key system and virtual contact center capabilities, as well as network quality analytics. As a result, service providers can ensure carrier-grade quality as they transition customers from aging on-premises PBXs and Centrex systems to new cloud-based unified communication services.

“BroadSoft has a longstanding commitment to an open platform strategy, which simplifies the integration of our communication and collaboration services with other devices, systems and applications,” said Taher Behbehani, chief marketing officer, BroadSoft. “Through our work with Oracle, we will continue to power new competitive solutions for our service provider customers.”

The demonstrated integration builds on an existing technology relationship between the two firms. BroadSoft uses scalable Oracle Communications Session Border Controllers and other technologies, to support its BroadWorks and BroadCloud service offerings.
