Travellers can now surf, work, game or make cheap VoIP calls using any wireless-enabled device, at the airline’s lounges in Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Gatwick and Glasgow. Passengers can connect to the web via the BT Openzone landing page.
The service is free to 4.8 million BT broadband customers with inclusive BT FON WiFi minutes, BT Openzone subscribers, plus O2 iPhone and mobile broadband users with access included within their contracts.
Jim Eaton-Terry, product manager for Flybe, said: “Flybe lounges allow you to enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks and now stay connected using the wireless internet now available in all our lounges.”
Chris Bruce, general manager, BT Openzone, said: “Business travellers want to be productive before their flights and holidaymakers are armed with wireless devices. With access in the UK, plus overseas hotspots, we’re providing more Wi-Fi where travellers want it, allowing them to keep in touch on the move.”
BT is seeing huge demand for WiFi in the leisure and hospitality sector. Customers can also connect 400,000 residential and commercial hotspots in the UK and Ireland including BAA airports, BA lounges, Caffè Nero, Hilton, Thistle and Ramada Jarvis hotels and Starbucks coffee stores.
