Chess Hits Sweet 16

Chess, the Cheshire based telecoms company has completed its latest acquisition with the purchase of Telecom (GB) Limited t/a Nationwide Telecom. With this latest acquisition, Chess has acquired a further large portfolio of business customers as well as a residential base.

Chess’ comprehensive portfolio of telecoms products will be of significant interest to Nationwide Telecom’s customers, who currently subscribe to voice services only. Chess offers a complete range of communications products and services including fixed line, mobiles, BlackBerry and applications over its own high-speed broadband network.

An integral part of Chess’ “Blueprint for Success”, launched in December 2005, is its achievement of 100% year on year expansion through a strategy combining organic growth with acquisitions.

Taking advantage of consolidation, Chess has been highly active in the acquisitions marketplace and this acquisition takes its total to 16 in the last 30 months. Chess’ activity is set to continue at good pace and it sees acquisitions as an instrumental part of its growth and development strategy.

Chess’ ability to serve the ever-increasing and widening demands of the corporate customer was important to Tony Greenwood of Nationwide Telecom when he made the decision to sell. “We approached Chess when we wanted to sell because it was important we sold to one of the industry’s known leading providers. It is paramount that our customers continue to receive a high level of service and Chess has industry award winning acknowledgement.”

“The acquisition of Nationwide Telecom’s customer base will further strengthen Chess’ position as a market leading business communications solution provider” says Chess Chief Executive, David Pollock, “Our aim is to be recognised as ‘the choice’ for business voice and data solutions. Chess prides itself on its innovative approach in all aspects of the business and we are an ambitious organisation. We don’t want to just be the best; we want to be known as the only ones who do what we do. We work in a fast moving and dynamic industry and we want to take full advantage of opportunities that are created.”
