Chess took part in the 2013 Gamma Ball Rally raising in total over £50,000 for the East Cheshire Hospice and Action through Enterprise (ATE).

Twelve Chess people including Chief Executive David Pollock drove 3 cars costing no more than £500 in the rally; ‘Chess Speed 69’, ‘Pawnstars’ and ‘The Hairy Chesticles’, travelled 1,026 miles in just 3 days. The rally started in Newbury onto Brand Hatch race circuit, overnight in Bruges, then a race around the world famous Nurburgring, finally crossing the finish line in Budapest three days later!

David Pollock, Chief Executive at Chess commented “Raising £50,000 for the East Cheshire Hospice and the ATE is a great achievement. The ATE help Ghanaian children gain education and East Cheshire Hospice is dear to the heart of Chess after caring for our colleague Julie Wright in her final days. All of our people got behind fundraising and spurred the teams on. For Speed 69 to win ‘Best Car’ was awesome, it was such a great adventure.”

Amy Proudfoot, a Sales Executive at Chess who took part in the Gamma Rally stated “I really enjoyed getting to know my colleagues outside of work and working together as a team, taking part in challenges I never thought I’d do, in particular the deadly Nurburgring, one of the most dangerous roads in the world! However the best part of the trip was that I got to play my part in helping to raise such a large sum of money for two very worthy causes.”
