Comms a la Carte for Colt

Colt has been selected by FRANCE 24, the new international news channel, as its key telecommunications partner. It provided the ultra high bandwidth infrastructure for FRANCE 24’s December 2006 launch within a tight three month timeframe.

FRANCE 24 say they selected Colt as it needed a partner who could deliver a very secure and redundant platform for the new television channel, which broadcasts around the clock in both French and English, and who had extensive experience of supplying organizations across the media sector.

Colt has built a dedicated and scalable infrastructure for FRANCE 24 which gathers high quality news coverage from the channel’s 170 journalists, who are spread across multiple international locations. The Colt solution includes voice and data services as well as point-to-point video links.

“Our collaboration with Colt has been an outstanding success,” said Frédéric Brochard, FRANCE 24’s CTO. “The Colt team has been very proactive during the project and we can depend on them to deliver the highly reliable infrastructure that is critical for our new service.”

Richard Blaustein, Managing Director for Colt in France said, “We are proud to be FRANCE 24’s telecoms partner for the launch of its international TV channel. The successful deployment of this huge project clearly demonstrates Colt’s skill in providing comprehensive solutions to meet specific telecoms needs. We look forward to continuing to work with FRANCE 24 as it develops and grows.”

As well as providing FRANCE 24’s telephony service, the Colt solution includes Internet Access, guaranteed at 20Mbit/s, three dedicated Ethernet connections and 20 270Mbit/s video links using the Colt Broadcast product.
