Computer 2000 Appoints Doughty To Head Sales

Distributor Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has appointed John Doughty as Sales Director.

Doughty, who has already taken up his new post, is responsible for all mainstream sales activities of the company in the UK. He has previously held senior roles at leading telecoms group, Caudwell, and at electronic entertainment specialist, Radica.

Welcoming Doughty to Computer 2000, Managing Director Steve Lockie, says: “John has a very strong pedigree in senior sales and with his long experience in the electronics and retail fields, brings a new perspective and an added dimension to our management team. We’re delighted to have him on board and wish him every success in his new role.”

Doughty is looking forward to the challenge of inspiring the company’s sales team to achieve their goals. “I believe there is a massive opportunity here at Computer 2000. This is a business that's consistently stayed ahead of the market, achieved customer recognition as Distributor of the Year for seven years running, and has an infrastructure that will enable us to develop and grow at a faster rate than our competition.”

Previously, Doughty has held spent two years running sales, purchasing and commercial operations at Caudwell, helping the company to remain successful whilst enduring some challenging market conditions. Before that he was with leading electronic games manufacturer, Radica for five years, joining as Sales Manager and working his way up to the position of Head of Sales and finally Managing Director. During his time at the company he helped to establish Gamester as one of the leading brands in the video games market

Prior to these achievements, Doughty spent three years within the Kingfisher Group, where he worked in the specialised electronic goods distribution of arm, Entertainment UK, and at music retailer HMV, where he also spent three years.
