Cost a Key Issue for SMB PBX Market say Swyx

Product Marketing Director at Swyx, Jayne Dimmick says that when it comes to smaller businesses there is obviously greater sensitivity over cost.

“It is important for the reseller to offer real value, and with software-based IP solutions such as Swyx this is relatively easy to achieve. An example of this type of installation has recently been done by Swyx reseller Kent IT.”

Kent IT’s managing director Garry Stockton explains, “We have recently provided a replacement system for a growing marketing agency, Adept Marketing Group Ltd which previously relied on a older hardware-based PBX. They wanted a solution that would not be complicated to add new users, would offer full integration with their Access database and would link 5 sites, three in the UK and two in France and South Africa respectively. We recommended Swyx because it is licence based, so any new users can be remotely configured inexpensively.

The company also enjoys free calls between sites and can answer calls centrally without the need for a dedicated receptionist at each site. For example one of the customer’s sites comprises mostly sales people who are often out of the office. Previously, calls to this location might just go to voice mail without the caller having the ability to talk to a real person. With the Swyx system they can provide a better and more responsive service for customers. And using the SwyxIt! soft client, all users can dial direct straight from their database. The company is currently also considering using the latest SwyxMobile functionality, giving workers on the move IP PBX functionality on their mobile phones.”

Swyx’s Jayne Dimmick adds, “However, another option that resellers can use to crack the small end of the market is to offer a hosted solution. They can either set themselves up as a service provider or indeed re-sell a service bundle. For the end customer they get a low risk and affordable solution with known monthly costs and no lengthy tie-ins. For the reseller, it gives them a further tool in their armoury making them more attractive in a tender situation. Unlike other solutions, Hosted SwyxWare is not based on an expensive and complex softswitch but is a pure software solution, making it incredibly easy for the service supplier to add or remove additional functionality on a per user basis. For sub 10 user companies, SwyxWare Compact is an ideal CPE platform to start with IP telephony.”
