Diagnosis Looks Good for Executel

Further growth for South Tyneside-based Immunodiagnostic Systems Ltd (IDS) has sparked fresh contract joy for leading local communications firm Executel.

Following numerous acquisitions and success that has led to predicted annual revenue of £46.9m by 2011, the rapidly-expanding medical testing kit manufacturer has invested in a state-of-the-art communications infrastructure for both its head office and manufacturing plant at Boldon Business Park in South Tyneside and its European office in Copenhagen.

Representing an investment nearing £30,000, Executel’s telephony solution has provided IDS with a future-proof and reliable IP backbone from which the firm can grow its international voice network.

Of the contract win, Executel account manager Richard Pavlou, said: “I am delighted that IDS have chosen Executel to help them through this seemingly endless period of extraordinary growth and expansion. The company are a credit to the region and a success story that deserves to be boasted about and applauded by all.

“With additional multi-million pound acquisitions in yet more European countries and the existing trans-Atlantic presence in the group, it became clear to IDS that there was a very real need for a voice network which would support this geographical spread.

“We have therefore provided a Mitel IP system and with it laid the perfect foundation for future international deployment, thus making their critical communications both seamless and cost effective irrelevant of location.”

Established in 1977, IDS is a leading producer of medical testing kits that are designed to help with the diagnosis of bone diseases and calcium dysfunction, including osteoporosis and Paget’s Disease. The firm currently employs a 75-strong workforce between its head office and manufacturing plant in South Tyneside and further sites in Germany, France, Denmark, Finland, Belgium and the US.

Judy Knight, Head of Operations for IDS, added: “With our international acquisitions and the ever-changing way in which our people needed to communicate, we were delighted to find in Executel a communications provider that was genuinely interested in what was important to us and how we wanted and needed our platform to operate.

“There seems to be no such thing as ‘off the shelf’ with Executel, everything they have done for us is very much geared towards benefitting IDS as a company. I therefore look forward to working with them again on future projects.”
