Dimension Data Demonstrates Integration for Microsoft OCS 2007 with Cisco

Dimension Data is demonstrating how its technology can help companies integrate Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 with Cisco communications and networking technologies at Microsoft’s Unified Communications 2007 launch event.

Dimension Data’s Integrated Collaboration solution focuses on integrating the technologies from Cisco and Microsoft to improve the way individuals and groups interact and perform.

Rob Lopez, Group Managing Director, Solutions at Dimension Data says; “Our Integrated Collaboration solution integrates multiple communication channels like IP telephony, presence, e-mail, conferencing, voice mail, unified messaging and instant messaging (IM). Dimension Data has extensive experience with building integration solutions, stemming back to support for Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 and extending today to Office Communications Server 2007. Our solution helps customers maximise their existing infrastructure investments.

We believe Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Communicator 2007 will have a significant impact on the way companies operate. Office Communication Server 2007 offers improved presence information and better integration with the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Windows Vista. We see these features as great additions to the portfolio of unified communications solutions we can offer our clients.”

Dimension Data recently released the results of an international research study into the attitudes, adoption and benefits of unified communications. The research* shows that the top three objectives for organisations’ unified communication investment strategies are to raise productivity, increase customer satisfaction and cut costs.

Additionally, IT managers surveyed are looking to gain these benefits from click-to-dial and presence functionality in the next two years.

Lopez says while successful collaboration hinges primarily on people and communication skills, technology plays an enablement role. “Indeed, more and more, organisations are moving away from stand-alone, disparate communication technologies to integrated software that incorporate identity and presence information to streamline and improve end-user communication.

Gurdeep Singh Pall, corporate vice president at Microsoft Corp said, “Dimension Data’s experience in Microsoft’s products and integrating communications technologies is highly valuable to companies investing in unified communications solutions. Working with Dimension Data, we will help our mutual customers gain the competitive advantages and cost savings made possible by unified communications.”

Dimension Data will also demonstrate its IPAD Connector solution eases and streamlines the provisioning of new telephony users in environments using both Microsoft and Cisco technology. IPAD leverages the identity infrastructure of Active Directory to consistently manage the Cisco telephony environment without requiring changes to either system.
